Job summary

South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) is hiring a Workforce Specialist within the Employment Services division to help jobseekers overcome barriers and improve skills for employment. It involves guiding candidates, posting and screening jobs, and coordinating with Community resources across multiple counties.

The role reports to the Lower Savannah Region and requires strong customer service, counseling, and collaboration with business partners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 4+ years in customer service, recruitment, interviewing, counseling, case management or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years in customer service, recruitment, interviewing, counseling, case management or related field.

Responsibilities

• Educate individuals on DEW programs, policies, and services and assist with services within the SC Works Center.
• Provide timely, professional, and attentive customer service.
• Collaborate with coworkers, management, and partner staff for scheduling activities.
• Refer qualified applicants to jobs posted through SC Works.
• Work with Business Consultants to match customers to openings.
• Develop relationships with community resources for referrals.
• Promote SC Works services through workshops and activities.
• Provide ongoing support to SC Works Centers and Workforce programs.
