Pima Medical Institute in Mesa is seeking a dedicated Career Prep Instructor for a part-time evening schedule (12 hours per week, ~3 evenings). You will deliver the Career Prep Curriculum Sequence, guiding students toward successful academic and professional outcomes.

Reports To: Assistant Dean of Faculty
Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Career Prep Instructor to join our Mesa campus faculty on a part-time evening schedule. In this role, you will implement our Career Prep Curriculum Sequence, educating and mentoring students in accordance with established curriculum standards and learning objectives .
This 12-hour per week evening role is ideal for healthcare professionals or educators looking to share their clinical and foundational knowledge, helping prepare future healthcare students for successful academic and professional careers .
Instructional Delivery & Curriculum Planning:
Lesson Planning: Design and deliver engaging lesson plans using diverse teaching methods that appeal to different learning styles .
Objective-Driven Teaching: Plan instruction to achieve specific learning objectives based on student needs and established curriculum standards .
Course Maintenance: Regularly review and suggest updates to course syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts through established institutional channels .
Enrichment Activities: Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and educational visits to local clinics or medical offices .
Student Advisory, Assessment & Support:
Evaluation & Grading: Evaluate, grade, and provide constructive feedback on classwork, assignments, and papers within 72 hours .
Student Mentorship: Maintain face-to-face office hours during assigned shift blocks to advise, tutor, and assist students .
Behavioral & Academic Intervention: Discuss and document academic or behavioral issues as they arise; notify the Assistant Dean of Faculty and Student Services Coordinator within 24 hours of any behavioral incident .
Externship & Admissions Alignment: Partner with Admissions and Career Services teams for on-site/off-site events and student externship placement activities .
Administrative Operations & Program Excellence:
Documentation: Complete accurate documentation for individual student files, attendance records, incident reports, early alerts, and other required records .
Campus Engagement: Participate in faculty meetings, advisory board meetings, in-service sessions, graduation ceremonies, workshops, and professional development opportunities .
Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety and security standards for students, staff, and campus visitors .
Program Success Metrics: Demonstrate an understanding of key performance metrics and actively work toward achieving the program Mission Award .
Comprehensive and current subject matter knowledge .
Skill in planning and executing engaging learning experiences .
Ability to assess student progress and implement effective remediation plans .
Dedication to modeling professional standards and commitment to the profession .
Ability to create and foster an active, inclusive learning environment .
Proficiency in administering effective assessments .
Strong verbal and written communication skills .
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs, and educational computer applications .
Minimum Qualifications:
Education & Training: Graduation from an accredited post-secondary program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA in the specialty field/subject area taught OR a minimum of three (3) years of job-related training and experience in the field .
Occupational Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of practical occupational experience in the subject field taught .
Subject Area Knowledge: Documented post-secondary education or practical job experience demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology .
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills .
Equivalent Qualification: Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets position standards .
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in the subject field .
Physical Tasks: Involves standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, talking, feeling, grasping, kneeling, carrying, and lifting .
Environmental Exposures: Potential exposure to electrical currents, vision strain, and biohazardous materials (such as blood and saliva) typical in a healthcare instructional setting .
Hiring Range: $21.57 to $26.96 per hour.
