Job Overview

Join Our Team at Tallahassee State College (TSC). TSC, recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full‑time grant‑funded opening for the position of Career Development Specialist, Avon Park – Position 10023 with DOC – Institution.

What You’ll Do

As a Career Development Specialist, you’ll play a key role in providing services related to Compass 100 Hybrid and supplemental in‑cell assignments through cell‑front instruction for eligible participants who are in restrictive housing as directed by the Lead Educator.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Administration and interpretation of assessments;
  • Delivery of the 100‑Hour Transition Skills Program curriculum;
  • Delivery of other programs as determined by the Department;
  • Maintaining and providing documentation of services delivered;
  • Reporting monthly attendance, program enrollments, and completions on the Department’s approved form DC5-149 “Correctional Daily Attendance Roster” (Attachment #2);
  • Providing information pertaining to pre‑release connections of community providers and employers for inmate release planning services to facility release officers;
  • Assisting the Pre‑Release Employment Navigators with hiring events, mock interviews, pre‑release job search, recruitment, and readiness portfolio development through face‑to‑face and technology‑based interactions.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or a high school diploma.
  • Two (2) years of professional experience in workforce development, social services, or corrections field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data entry.
Bonus Points
  • Associate’s Degree and one year of experience in the social services or corrections field.
