Job summary

State of Vermont seeks a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor I for the White River Junction area to help people with disabilities pursue employment and credential attainment. This role emphasizes assessment, guidance, and case management, with office-based work and some travel to support participants in overcoming barriers to employment.

The position is offered at multiple levels; a relevant Master’s degree is preferred, and applicants without CRC or Master’s may commit to needed coursework

Qualifications

• Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, psychology, social work, special education or counseling, education with a special education focus, or a related counseling field.
• Bachelor's degree required for VR Associate Counselor, with commitment to obtain a Master's within 5 years.
• Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling preferred; other related master’s degrees considered.

Responsibilities

• Assess, guide, and counsel participants to access careers and employment.
• Assist in finding employment, work experiences, and credentials.
• Provide case management and maintain necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with community providers and service partners.
• Utilize MS Office and video platforms to support participant progress.
