EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated full-time Career Counselor to join the Career Services Program.

Salary: $28.83/hour

Schedule: 8:45AM-4:45PM, Monday-Friday

Location: Hempstead, NY

Reports to: Program Supervisor

Core Purpose of This Job

The Career Counselor is responsible for providing counseling, workshops, vocational/educational assistance, job readiness assistance, job skills training to clients, and extensive employment assistance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct outreach, intake, and orientation to available services through the one-stop delivery system.
2. Perform vocational and work readiness assessments on clients.
3. Assess skill levels, aptitudes, abilities, and supportive service needs.
4. Provide job search, placement assistance, and career counseling.
5. Develop career plans based on client backgrounds and interests.
6. Conduct workshops on topics like interview techniques and time management.
7. Assist employers with recruitment and other business services.
8. Provide labor market information and employment statistics.
9. Coordinate with other programs and develop required documentation.
10. Maintain professional relationships and represent the program externally.
11. Develop and implement policies and procedures.
12. Attend meetings to review outcomes and ensure file organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in counseling or related field; degree preferred.
• At least two years of relevant experience; OSOS experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and access to automobile.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications, MS Office, and databases.
