Job summary

Haledon Public School seeks a Guidance Counselor to assist students with career and educational planning, administer assessments, and coordinate with colleges and community partners. Under supervision, you will help students set educational goals and develop plans, while guiding course selections and scheduling.

You will liaise with parents, staff, and external organizations, maintain records, participate in dropout prevention, and contribute to ongoing student support services.

Qualifications

• Certification/License as Guidance Counselor per state requirements (or in process).
• Minimum one year of student guidance or teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with college admissions processes and career opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Provide information on career and educational opportunities to students, parents, and staff.
• Administer and interpret career assessment tools and help students develop goals.
• Assist in course selections and scheduling; disseminate information about opportunities.
• Assist with admissions, scholarships, and identifying employment opportunities.
• Coordinate with staff and community partners to support student guidance services.
• Maintain records and communicate with colleges and employers as required.
