Job summary

Denver Public Schools seeks a job readiness and placement specialist to support refugee students and collaborate with multiple departments to facilitate employment outcomes. The role is grant funded through September 30, 2027, with office presence at main and satellite campuses.

Responsibilities include resume/cover letter coaching, employer engagement, and on-campus recruitment coordination. Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 3+ years in vocational

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience minimum.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Critiques and edits student resumes, cover letters, and other employment documentation and advises them on workplace etiquette, dress, interviewing and related issues.
  • Engages with employers, makes direct referrals, and coordinates on-campus recruiting and job fair opportunities for students.
  • Activates and maintains relationships with students until employment is secured.
  • Works with college faculty and staff to develop career readiness curriculum for related industries and careers.
  • Keeps abreast of employment trends and maintains business community relationships to ensure timely placement of graduates.
  • Participates in academic department meetings with deans, associate deans, and instructors.

About This Job

Provides job readiness support, including resume, cover letter, job search and application support; and job placement support in-person, email, and phone. Holds office hours at both the main campus and at satellite campuses as appropriate. Works primarily with our refugee student population but collaborates with all departments to facilitate a seamless service delivery experience with the goal of student's employment outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Participates in academic department meetings with deans, associate deans, and instructors
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience minimum required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
