Job Title
This position is contingent upon grant funding and is reviewedannually for continuation and is strictly contingent upon thereceipt of necessary funding sources and contractualagreements.
Summary
The CTE Pathways Coach works as a student-centered professionaldedicated to fostering academic persistence, engagement, andcompletion among students enrolled in Career and TechnicalEducation (CTE) programs. The Coach serves as the primary point ofcontact for students, providing proactive support to help themassess their goals, progress along their career pathway, and accessresources to navigate the complexities of higher education. In thiscapacity, the Coach conducts proactive outreach and resourcereferral leveraging on-campus support services for studentsincluding Academic Advisors, Career Development, EducationalSupport Services, Student Life, Counselors, Community Resources,Financial Aid, faculty, and others. The Coach makes directreferrals to these professionals for the specificexpertise/assistance needed to strengthen persistence, resilience,academic progress, academic and career planning, goal achievement,self-management, and negotiation of life challenges related towork, family, and college. The Coach, carefully and continuouslyassesses each student’s needs, monitors their progress, and engagesthem in success planning ensuring their retention, completion,credential attainment, and successful transition into employment orcontinued education. This position maintains student records,ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reportingexpectations. This position is embedded in the Career DevelopmentCenter and reports directly to the Director of Career Developmentand Civic Engagement.
Work Schedule
FT Monday through Friday. Core hours are 8a.m. to 5 p.m. Must be flexible to work to 6 p.m. if neededdepending on student needs .
This position is contingent upon the availability of Perkins grantfunding.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster persistence and completion among Career and TechnicalEducation (CTE) students, maintaining a caseload created by A3alerts and/or faculty, administration, and other staffreferrals.
- Conduct student intake meetings to assess educational goals,career interests, support needs, and readiness for training andemployment.
- Implement intentional strategies to identify at-risk studentsand monitor students’ progress through regular email, textmessaging, and phone, and through scheduled meetings or proactiveoutreach and communication, responding to students’ questions,concerns, and needs with compassion, respect, encouragement, andempathy.
- Conduct responsive coaching through individual or groupsessions or the development of individualized success plans tosupport student retention, completion, credential attainment, andemployment outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, student servicesstaff, and other personnel to support student success andcoordinate interventions when needed.
- Assist students with career exploration activities, careerpathway planning, goal setting, and transition planning.
- Conduct workshops and information sessions related to careerreadiness, employability skills, workplace expectations, financialliteracy, time management, and student success strategies.
- Collaborate with the Apprenticeship, Pre-apprenticeship, andInternship Navigator to identify students who may benefit fromapprenticeship, internship, or other work-based learningopportunities and facilitate referrals as appropriate.
- Work closely with Career Development staff to connect studentswith career resources, job placement services, employer engagementactivities, and employment opportunities.
- Assist with recruitment and outreach activities to increasestudent awareness and participation in CTE programs, includingthose nontraditional to their gender.
- Identify barriers to student success and coordinate referralsto appropriate college and community resources, such as AcademicAdvisors, Career Development, Educational Support Services, StudentLife, Counselors, Community Resources, Financial Aid, faculty, andothers to address a range of student needs.
- Serves as a point of contact for students seeking assistanceand provide information about policies, resources, and collegeprocesses.
- Track student interactions, progress, and outcomes; maintainsaccurate records in line with confidentiality and complianceguidelines by using college systems to measure the effectiveness ofsuccess initiatives.
- Gather student feedback and recommend improvements to programs,services, and student support initiatives.
- Prepare reports and presentations for college leadership,Perkins stakeholders, community partners, and grant funders todemonstrate program effectiveness and student outcomes.
- Serves on college committees relevant to the success andretention of students enrolled in CTE programs.
- Maintain accurate time and effort reporting and otherdocumentation required for grant compliance.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Career or Technical area or equivalentfrom an accredited institution.
Certifications:
- Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PAChild Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Cogent ClearanceFingerprinting).
Work Experience
- Three years of experience in student services, careercounseling, case management, advising, education, human resources,or related fields.
- A minimum of three years proven experience teaching in aclassroom
- One year assisting college students in an advising, counseling,or academic coaching position at an institution of highereducation; OR one year employed as a case manager in a humanservice organization
- Familiarity with the mission of a comprehensive communitycollege.

- Must be able to travel to all college and community sites.
- Knowledge of Canvas, Banner web, Achieve Appointment Manager,and CRM Advise

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a Career or Technical area from anaccredited institution.
- Knowledge of career pathways, apprenticeships, and communityresources.
Physical Demands
- Ability to effectively communicate, perceive, and exchangeinformation with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls usinghands, arms, or adaptive equipment.
- Ability to safely lift, transport, or move objects up to 15 lbsregularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Vision capabilities sufficient to view screens, read printedmaterials, and observe work environments (with or without assistivedevices).
