Job summary

Career Team is seeking a Choices/SNAP Career Advisor to deliver professional career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services for Choices and SNAP participants. You will work under the supervision of the Choices/SNAP/NCP Program Manager and support onsite at One-Stop centers.

You'll assess jobseekers' employment needs, enter data into Work In Texas/TIERS, and guide participants through individual employment plans, referrals, and program services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1-2 years of work experience or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-thought-out decisions.
  • Able to work with and relate to participants and be culturally sensitive.
  • Must be computer literate and have MS Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) skills at minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Choices/SNAP case management services to eligible participants.
  • Complete intake and eligibility determination for the given workforce program.
  • Assess jobseekers' employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing, and other methods.
  • Enter data into Work In Texas and TIERS and any participant information system as required.
  • Guide jobseekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific occupational goals.
  • Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services.
  • Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs, or job opportunities and follow-up on those activities.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations for clients.
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation; ensure that case files have originals and/or copies of eligibility documentation.
  • Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer ensuring documentation.
  • Provide referral and tracking of eligible customers into contracted programs provided on-site at the One-Stop centers and/or located in the community.
  • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks.
  • Participate in all staff-related events including training, staff meetings, and supervision.
  • Complete all required reports.
  • Approach each day with a "ZAG" mindset.
  • Other duties and projects as needed.

  • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks
  • Participate in all staff-related events as required, including but not limited to training, staff meetings, and individual supervision
  • Complete all required reports
  • Approach each day and task with a \"ZAG\" mindset
  • Other duties and projects as needed
The Ideal Qualifications for this Position Include

  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational skills, and communication skills, both oral and written, required
  • A Valid Driver's License
