Job summary

Career Team is hiring an Adult and Dislocated Bilingual Career Advisor to provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services onsite in Columbus, Ohio. You will work under the Project Director and play a vital role in accelerating workforce outcomes for job seekers.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and have 5+ years of operations experience, strong communication, bilingual abilities, and knowledge of the WIOA program.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations.
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources.
  • MS Word and Excel skills at minimum.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse customer base.
  • Knowledge of the WIOA program requirements.
  • A Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information and case management services to the community.
  • Complete intake and eligibility determination for the workforce program.
  • Assess jobseekers’ employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing, and other methods.
  • Serve as a liaison between workforce development programs and community partners.
  • Enter data into participant information systems and other required databases.
  • Guide job seekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP).
  • Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services.
  • Refer individuals to appropriate services and follow up on those activities.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and job clubs for clients.
  • Maintain compliant eligibility documentation and case files.

Career TEAM is looking to hire an Adult and Dislocated Bilingual Career Advisor who will perform professional work providing career counseling, intensive case management, and follow‑up services. Work is performed under the supervision of the Project Director. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. The Career Advisor will play an integral role in Career TEAM’s mission of accelerating the human condition!

  • Provide information and case management services to the community

  • Assess jobseekers’ employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing, and other methods
  • Serves as a liaison between workforce development programs and community partners
  • Enter data into and otherwise use and process clients through any participant information system as required, and any other database as required by the One-Stop system
  • Guide job seekers through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific occupational goals
  • Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services
  • Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs, or job opportunities and follow up on those activities
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations for clients
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation; ensure that case files have originals and/or copies of eligibility documentation
  • Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements
  • Develop a comprehensive Individual Employment Plan (IEP) for all customers
  • Provide referral and tracking of eligible customers into contracted programs provided on-site at the One-Stop centers and/or located in the community in accordance with established contracts
  • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks
  • Participate in all staff-related events as required including but not limited to training, staff meetings, and individual supervision
  • Complete all required reports

Ideal Qualifications for this Role Include

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in operations
  • Strong communication skills and knowledge about community resources
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-thought-out decisions
  • Must be computer literate and have MS Word and Excel skills at minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base with the ability to be culturally sensitive
  • Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them towards achieving goals
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed set goals and objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational skills, and communication skills, both oral and written required
  • Knowledgeable about the WIOA program and other workforce program requirements
  • A demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient in maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Exceptional time management skills to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • A Valid Driver’s License

Salary: $49,000-$52,000/ yr
