Job summary

Springhill Hospitals Inc in Mobile, AL is seeking a Care Tech for the Inpatient Rehab Unit on a PRN days schedule. The role supports nursing staff by performing selected nursing tasks and other support functions in line with hospital policies.

Qualified candidates will have a CNA certification, HS diploma, BLS, and validation of Alabama credentials; consideration given to Medical Assistants, Paramedics/EMTs, or experienced care technicians with 3+ years.

Qualifications

• Must work 2 full 12-hour shifts per schedule and 2 on-call shifts.
• Nursing student OK; Fundamentals of Nursing completion required.
• Rehab experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under supervision by nurses.
• Assist with personal care, comfort, and safety of patients.
• Arrive by 6:30 a.m. and work every other weekend.

• Take vital signs, assist nursing staff, and help with daily needs.

Description

To facilitate the provision of patient care by performing specific nursing tasks and other support functions in compliance with hospital policy and procedures as delegated by licensed nursing personnel.

(Must work 4 shifts a month; one shift has to be on the weekend)

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• We are a drug free facility. Passing a pre-employment drug screening is required.

Education Requirements/Position Requirements (Must be certified in Alabama):

• Validation of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be able to validate CNA certification.
• Will consider Medical Assistant and teach bedside care.
• Will consider Paramedic/EMT experience and teach bedside care.
• Will consider care technician applicant with at least 3 years of recent patient care experience.
• BLS completion within 90 days of hire date.
• If currently enrolled in a nursing program, completion of Fundamentals of Nursing is a requirement.
• Must be able to work 2 full 12-hour shifts per schedule.
• Must be willing to take 2 on-call shifts per schedule.

• Applicants will be responsible for vital signs, assisting nursing personnel, and helping patients with basic daily needs.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate and carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
