The CARE Project Coordinator assists Project Managers in the administration, coordination, and implementation of grant-related goals and objectives for various grants and contracts, including programs supported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), CT Department of Public Health, and other governmental and private funding sources, particularly as it relates to engaging community members in project-related initiatives. Assists the Project Manager for Community Engagement in building relationships with New Haven residents, community partner organizations, neighborhood organizations, and municipal departments for the purpose of executing projects and research initiatives to address health in New Haven. Supports the day-to-day operations and coordination of the activities associated with grant programs.

Essential Functions:

Supports the building of relationships with leaders, residents, and organizations in the New Haven community to plan, facilitate, and participate in community-level work, which includes assisting with the execution and coordination of program and policy level interventions.

Supports community engagement strategies for various projects; advises CARE staff on these strategies; conducts outreach and engages a broad range of community partners in CARE‑related projects.
Serves as liaison between CARE, the College of Health and Human Services, and the New Haven community.

Assists in the design and implementation of grant-related programs, services, and training. Works with staff and subcontractors to monitor CDC contract compliance and implement activities. Tracks required reporting and ensures deadlines are met.

Assists the Project Manager and subcontractors in gathering appropriate information and synthesizing information for reporting. Assists in the submission of grant-related data reporting requirements.
Assists with and supports evaluation activities, including data collection, data analysis, report writing, and other evaluation activities.

Assists with grant budget management.

Works with CARE staff to coordinate meetings with partners. Attends and participates in grant-related committee, coalition, and working group meetings.

Recruits and hires student workers, interns, and part-time project support staff. Provides supervision to student workers.

Provides assistance to Project Manager in day-to-day project tasks.

Must be available during the day and some evenings and weekends.

Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those above that do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position, including coordinating related activity for overlapping projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in public health or related field. Some project coordination and community engagement experience. Experience with the New Haven community. Evidence of organizational skills. Ability to diplomatically serve as liaison to all university administrative offices and external entities involved in grant program. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and internet. Ability to implement work plans and timelines. Ability to manage complex tasks and meet deadlines. Demonstrated commitment to health equity. Special qualifications in skills expertise may be added pursuant to the requirements of the grant. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Knowledge of New Haven communities preferred. These qualifications may be waived for individuals with appropriate alternate experience.
