Duties and Responsibilities
- Participates as part of the clinical team, providing assistance with managing intake, triage, and urgent care/crisis systems, and consultation regarding community referrals.
- In coordination with the Wellness Center Counseling Center staff, the Behavioral Concerns Team, Care Team staff, and other campus personnel, assists students in accessing community services for outpatient mental health care, including scheduling appointments, meeting students, and overcoming barriers.
- Develops and implements follow-up systems with students referred to community resources, ensuring appropriate assessment, referral success, and treatment compliance. Supports medical staff in connecting students to community providers for medical specialties and affordable care.
- Assesses insurance benefits and financial resources for mental health treatment, advocating for low-cost services when needed.
- Assists students hospitalized for mental or physical illnesses in transitioning back to Loyola, including discharge planning and facilitating access to services.
- Collaborates with counseling and medical staff on treatment planning, especially for students with complex needs or frequent urgent care use.
- Consults with parents, faculty, administrators, and student development staff as appropriate and authorized to ensure quality care.
- Maintains accurate records of care management activities in compliance with laws and best practices.
- Builds relationships with off-campus mental health providers, hospitals, and community partners.
- Maintains a comprehensive database of mental health providers in the Chicagoland area to assist students.
- Participates in staff meetings, committees, and training activities.
- Provides mental health phone coverage during daytime hours.
- May carry a small caseload during peak demand periods.
- Pursues professional development relevant to the role.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Work Experience
- Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related mental health discipline.
Qualifications
- Must have a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or related mental health discipline.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
- Current valid licensure in mental health (e.g., LSW, LCSW, LCPC) preferred.
- Applicants eligible for licensure but requiring supervised hours are encouraged to apply.
Computer Skills
Proficiency in basic word processing; experience with electronic medical records preferred, with ability to learn.
