Responsibilities include reviewing menus, inspecting special diet trays, and coordinating meal service. Candidates should have a high school diploma and two or more years of cooking experience in a healthcare setting. Qualifications

• Two or more years of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and serves resident meals using proper food handling and safety techniques.
• Reviews menus prior to preparation of food.
• Inspects special diet trays to assure that the correct diet is served to the resident.
• Completes necessary forms and reports and submits to management.
• Coordinates meal service with other departments as necessary.
• Works with the culinary director and implements recommended changes.
• Ensures dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
• Maintains and files menus according to policies.
• Assists in establishing food service production lines.
• Processes diet changes and new diets as received.
• Takes pride in the preparation and presentation of meals.

Skills

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English

Ability to read recipes and convert ingredients

Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities
