Job summary

Discovery Senior Living in Poughkeepsie NY is seeking a compassionate Caregiver to enrich residents' lives by providing hands-on personal care and support, helping maintain a home-like environment.

You will perform daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance while promoting safety, dignity, and independence for each resident. Previous CNA experience and a genuine desire to serve seniors are preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) certification preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with seniors preferred.
• Strong communication with residents, team members, and leadership.

Responsibilities

Your Role

As the Caregiver, your role includes providing hands‑on care and physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home‑like environment.

Position Highlights

• Status: Part Time & Full Time
• Schedule: All shifts including weekends
• Location: Poughkeepsie NY 12603
• Rate of Pay: Varies

What You’ll Do

• Responsible for designated group of residents during shift; ensures awareness of whereabouts and conducts frequent checks
• Provide daily personal care support, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulation, transferring, and eating assistance
• Respond to security system and resident call bells promptly
• Help residents maintain independence while promoting dignity, safety, and overall well-being
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of resident rooms and work areas
• Offer companionship, encouragement, and emotional support to residents
• Engage residents in meaningful life skills activities and enrichment programs
• Notify supervisor and/or health care coordinator if a resident has increased care needs
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse’s Aid (CNA) certification preferred
• High School diploma or GED required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Prior experience working with seniors preferred
• Strong communication skills with residents, team members, and leadership
• Compassionate, resident-focused approach with superior customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Sound judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
