Job summary

Dignity Health - Methodist Hospital Sacramento is seeking a Care Assistant to help patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with daily life activities. You will support with hygiene, mobility, feeding, and assist nursing staff with vitals and room prep.

Qualifications

• One year CNA/nurse assistant experience in a health care setting.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

• Technical Skills: Competent in psychomotor skills and technical procedures within scope of practice. Includes care of patient drains, tubes, special equipment, ADL's, mobility, Hospital Information System proficiency, I & O, response in emergency.
• Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
• Organizational Skills: Uses appropriate organization, priority setting and problem solving skills.
• Self Development: Is accountable for self-directed learning and participation in continuing education to meet own professional development.
• Patient Safety: Applies safety precautions and principles to patient care. Includes all applicable National Patient Safety Goals.
• Quality: Participates in unit, service line and CHW Quality initiatives. Includes Patient Satisfaction.

Job Requirements

• One (1) year CNA/nurse assistant/care giver in a healthcare setting.
• Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
