Job summary

Children’s Mercy KC in Kansas City, MO is seeking a care assistant to provide basic patient care under RN supervision. You will support unit operations, participate in education programs, and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment for patients and families.

Qualifications include a HS diploma (or equivalent) and potential CNA or enrollment in a nursing program, with BLS certification upon hire. This is an on-site role with a commitment to our values of kindness, inclusion and service.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training Experience patient or customer facing roles preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or If not a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) one of the following criteria must be met: Enrolled in a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (LPN) nursing education program and have successfully completed the fundamentals in nursing course.
• Within the past 3 years, was a professional (BSN/AD) or practical (BSN/AD) nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure examination in any state.

• Unit Secretary/clerical functions.

Overview

Care Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under the supervision of registered nurses. Assignment of job responsibilities are as delegated by registered nurses assigned to supervise the care assistant and in accordance with this job description.

Worked as a nurse assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), or surgical technician within the past 3 years. Some units may require bilingual skills.

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $17.15/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
