The Territory Account Specialist (TAS) is a driven sales business leader who designs a customized customer experience tailored to the needs of each account and Healthcare Provider (HCP). Acting as the primary Point of Contact (PoC) in our customer-centric approach, the Territory Account Specialist engages with clients to identify mutual priorities and address their needs by problem-solving and leveraging Novartis resources to enhance patient outcomes. The Territory Account Specialist possesses expertise in clinical selling, account selling, access navigation, problem solving, team orchestration/collaboration, and omni-channel engagement.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pinpoint mutual priorities and utilize insights and strategies across the entire account to formulate a strategic territory business plan that aims to enhance product demand by addressing the requirements of key partners and their patients, ultimately achieving exceptional outcomes.
  2. Encourage clinical discussions that motivate the customer to advocate for their patients and involve the entire account team to identify any barriers, offering suitable solutions to meet the customer's needs.
  3. Utilize expertise and understanding of the market, relevant competitors, industry trends, and cross-functional strategies to foresee and manage business opportunities and challenges effectively.
  4. Conduct planning meetings with key stakeholders to address complex customer issues and collaborate across departments to fulfill customer requirements.
  5. Examine market data and trends within the territory to understand the local business landscape, promote engagement, and lead both virtual and in-person interactions with customers.
  6. Utilize systems and omni-channel or multi-channel strategies to maximize Novartis capabilities for personalized customer engagement, whether in person or virtually.
  7. Work collaboratively with regional colleagues, other field staff, and home-office teams to proactively meet customer needs and deliver access support.
  8. Provide timely access assistance and collaborate with Patient Specialty Services (PSS) associates to address customer requirements efficiently.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 2+ years' experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a similar sales role within the last 5 years.
  • Strong ability to collaborate across functions in a matrix environment, proficient in communicating clinical product details, with a proven track record of high performance, and skilled in navigating and selling to large accounts and key segments.
  • Proactive with strong analytical skills to identify, prioritize, and utilize relevant data to solve problems and satisfy key customers, demonstrating ethical leadership and compliance with company policies and laws.
  • Must reside within the territory or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from the territory border. Ability to travel 60-80% across a broad geography, driving or flying within the territory, with a valid driver's license.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience with therapeutic groups, disease states, account management, and product launches.
  • Understanding of patient services, market access, buy and bill, specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, and medical calling on HCPs regarding sophisticated products or reimbursement pathways.

Leveling Guidelines: The position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.

Position Levels:

  • Territory Account Associate: Recent military service of 4+ years in a leadership role or no prior sales experience.
  • Territory Account Specialist: 2+ years' relevant experience within the last 5 years.
  • Senior Territory Account Specialist: 5+ years' relevant experience within the last 5 years.
  • Executive Territory Account Specialist: 10+ years' relevant experience within the last 5 years.

Driving is an Essential Function: This role requires driving as a fundamental activity. Must have a valid, unrestricted driver's license. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with medical restrictions if the essential function of driving is not eliminated.

Compensation and Benefits: The salary range at start is expected to be between $77,000 and $143,000 for Associate, $93,800 and $174,200 for Specialist, $114,100 and $211,900 for Senior, and $126,000 and $234,000 for Executive levels. Final pay depends on various factors including location, experience, and performance. Benefits include bonuses, stock units, awards, and comprehensive health and retirement plans. Details will be provided upon offer.

Training Period: The selected candidate must complete initial training, which includes home study, within eight hours per day and forty hours per week.
