Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Special Procedures and Cath Lab Technologist will assist the Licensed Practitioner in performing fluoroscopic, interventional, and Neuro-Interventional procedures while using sterile techniques. They are responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting activities related to medications and radiation exposure, in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, and facility policies.

Essential Job Functions

1. Perform high-quality diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations using ultrasound and physiologic testing equipment to evaluate cerebrovascular, peripheral arterial, and venous systems, adhering to exam protocols unless clinical deviation is necessary.
2. Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
3. Contact referring physicians or other medical personnel for clarification if there is suspicion that the exam order is incorrect.
4. Use the hospital electronic medical record to review patient information, enter preliminary reports, and document critical findings as per department policy.
5. Complete assigned tasks within appropriate time frames.
6. Demonstrate behaviors aligned with the Mission and Values of Bon Secours Mercy Health and adhere to corporate policies, including compliance with laws and regulations, and report any unethical or unlawful acts.
7. Follow all safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality policies.
8. Perform non-invasive vascular exams proficiently.
9. Maintain knowledge of vascular anatomy, exam procedures, interpretation criteria, and correlate lab results with other hospital procedures.

Licensing/Certification

• Certification and Registration with ARRT or CCI (required)
• ACLS (American Heart Association) certification, which can be obtained after hire (required)
• Preferred: Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT)
• Preferred: Certification in Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)
• State Licensure (preferred, unless required by state)

Education

Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred)

Work Experience

Minimum 1 year experience in radiology, with surgery experience in CR (preferred)
