Job description

Job Title: Cardiovascular Technologist (Cath Lab)

Location: Happy Valley, OR 97015

Work Model: Onsite

Position Type: Full-Time

Cardiovascular Technologist assists credentialed providers with diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac and vascular laboratory environments. This role supports Cath Lab procedures by functioning as a scrub assistant or monitor/recorder, managing hemodynamic monitoring, maintaining sterile technique, supporting access site management, and responding to emergency situations as needed.

The technologist performs duties under direct supervision of a credentialed provider while promoting teamwork and upholding Kaiser Permanente mission and values.

1. ACLS (American Heart Association)
2. BLS (American Heart Association)

Special Requirements (Within 12 Months of Hire)

Candidate must obtain ONE of the below within 12 months of hire:

• Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
  OR
• ARRT – Vascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT-VI)
  OR
• ARRT – Cardiac Interventional Radiography (ARRT-CI)
  OR
• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Serve as scrub assistant or monitor/recorder for cardiology and radiology studies
• Prepare and position patients for invasive procedures
• Assist cardiovascular tests and record hemodynamic activity using specialized electronic equipment and recording devices
• Manage arterial/venous access sites post-procedure including:
  • sheath removal
  • hemostatic device management
• Set up, maintain and troubleshoot Intra Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) when required
• Recognize cardiac arrhythmias and hemodynamic waveforms; alert provider/team as per protocol
• Administer intracoronary and/or intra-arterial medications under physician supervision
• Maintain sterile field using aseptic technique
• Prepare, maintain, and operate hemodynamic and monitoring equipment
• Start and maintain IV (with required training/certification)
• Familiarity with:
  • IVUS machine
  • Site Rite ultrasound machine
• Provide BLS/ACLS support including defibrillation when required
• Maintain proficiencies for point-of-care tests such as:
  • ACT (activated clotting time)
  • oxygen saturation
  • ABG (arterial blood gases)
• Patient teaching, documentation, quality assurance, troubleshooting equipment, vendor calls
• On-call responsibilities:
  • must respond onsite within 30 minutes
• Assist with patient transportation as required

Basic Qualifications

Experience

• Successful completion of an accredited invasive cardiovascular technologist training program
  OR
• Two (2) years education in allied health science (nursing, respiratory therapy, radiographic tech, emergency medicine tech)
  AND
• Comparable work experience with at least 2 years recent on-the-job training in Interventional Cath Lab environment

License / Certification / Registration: Within 12 months of hire (any one): RCIS / RCES / ARRT-VI / ARRT-CI

Required Certifications

Additional Requirements

• Must comply with 30-minute call-back
• Ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias
• Analytical ability for patient monitoring and hemodynamic calculations
• Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 5 years recent Interventional Cath Lab experience
• RCIS (Cath Lab) or RCES (EP Lab)
