Job summary

HealthPartners' Regions Hospital seeks a casual Physician Assistant to support cardiovascular surgery. Primary duties include first assist during adult cardiac, thoracic, and robotic procedures, vein harvest, and perioperative/postoperative care.

Inpatient rounding and occasional clinic duties are part of the role, with call coverage averaging 1 in 4. The CV-PA will assist with positioning in OR, chest chesting, wound closure, and ICU transport.

Qualifications

• Completion of and certification in an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the State of Minnesota.
• NCCPA certification.
• 1–2 years CV surgery experience preferred (OR) including first assisting or vein harvesting.

Responsibilities

• Assist cardiovascular surgeons in the OR for cardio-thoracic and robotic cases.
• Position patients, harvest veins, and assist with chest closure as needed.
• Coordinate inpatient care, post-op orders, and discharge planning.
• Provide perioperative support and participate in call coverage.
