UNC Health Care is seeking a Cardiovascular Sonographer Student who will perform and assist non-invasive cardiovascular ultrasound procedures under the direct supervision of a certified Non-invasive CV Tech. The role includes patient identification, safe exam practices, and EMR documentation in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities include executing echocardiographic and peripheral vascular procedures, interviewing patients for risk factors, and selecting appropriate imaging protocols.
The Cardiovascular Sonographer Student performs under theclosedirect supervision ofa certified Non-invasive CV Tech,assistingin the performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic cardiovascular ultrasound procedures.
Performs and reports results of non-invasive peripheral vascular or echocardiographic diagnostic procedures and ambulatory monitoring.
Ensures positive patient identification. Promotes a safe,cleanand secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
Reads,comprehends, and transcribes imaging order, engaging with vascular surgeon, cardiologist, or radiologist when order is unclear, complex orwarrantsdeeper review.
Interviews patients to understand risk factors and prior medical history components that maywarranta more in-depth examination for safety.
Selectsappropriate scanningprotocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy,pathologyand the capabilities/limitations of both imaging hardware and specific imaging sequences.
Review and chart record of care into electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Currently enrolled in an accredited Cardiovascular Sonography program with successful completion of two semesters.
