Job summary

Bryan College Of Health Sciences in Nebraska seeks an experienced sonographer to perform cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures independently according to established protocols in hospital, clinic, and mobile sites. You will acquire diagnostic information, image and document results in preliminary reports, ensuring timely exams.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in ultrasound or cardiovascular technology with relevant registry prerequisites.
  • Credential in registry specialties (Adult Cardiac Sonography and Vascular Technology) required.
  • Experience meeting QA protocols and accreditation standards is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent cardiac and vascular ultrasound procedures according to protocols.
  • Acquire diagnostic information, image, and document results in preliminary reports.
  • Organize and assist with daily operations of the echo/vascular laboratory including scheduling and reporting.
  • Maintain supplies, report equipment failures, and assist with QA, protocol development, IAC accreditation and PACs implementation.

Job description

Summary

Responsible for the independent, competent performance of all procedures according to set protocols in both cardiac and vascular ultrasound. Ensures procedures are performed within designated time frames with appropriate order. Safely and proficiently operates ultrasound and associated equipment. Recognizes significant and life‑threatening abnormalities, acquires appropriate diagnostic information, and images and accurately communicates and documents results of diagnostic examinations in preliminary reports. Performs job duties in multiple venues, including hospital, clinic, and multiple mobile sites.

Responsible for organizing and assisting with daily operations of the echo/vascular laboratory. Thoroughly completes all paperwork, including patient scheduling and communication, documentation, report distribution and charges. Responsible for maintaining supplies, reporting equipment failures, and assisting with quality assessment (QA), protocol development, IAC accreditation and PACs implementation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required. Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or health related field is preferred.

Credential in the following registry specialties required:

  • a. Adult Cardiac Sonography: RDCS-AE (ARDMS) -or- RCS (CCI)
  • b. Vascular Technology: RVT (ARDMS) -or- RVS (CCI)

Experience in pediatric echo adequate to perform pediatric studies in the clinic, at the hospital and when on call required within one (1) year of hire, if no prior experience.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) with AED certification required within 30 days of start date. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
  • Valid driver's license required. Verification and maintenance of responsible driving record per facility standards required.
