Cardiovascular Sonographer - Per Diem (Day shifts, Weekdays, Weekends and On-Call As Needed)

Description: Performs vascular studies on patients of all ages using ultrasounds and other testing equipment. Works independently and with physicians to ensure accurate diagnosis information. Maintains records, performs routine equipment maintenance, and stays current with field advancements. Serves as a clinical resource for non-registered Sonographers.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrates competency in vascular ultrasound studies, including image acquisition and patient safety.
  • Uses other diagnostic lab equipment as per procedures.
  • Follows infection control protocols.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to non-registered staff.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families.
  • Documents patient history accurately and checks orders.
  • Prepares data for physician interpretation and ensures timely reporting.
  • Maintains department records and performs additional tests as needed.
  • Notifies physicians of urgent results.
  • Ensures equipment care and routine maintenance.
  • Reports equipment issues.
  • Follows safe operating techniques.
  • Maintains current knowledge through CME and advances in the field.
  • Assists in training students and staff.
  • Provides clerical support and assists with patient transportation.
  • Participates in special projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular diagnostic sonography program or equivalent experience.
  • ARDMS RVT registration in Vascular Sonography or CCI registration within one year of hire.
  • Current CPR certification.

Patient Contact: Knowledge and skills to care for patients across all age groups, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Physical Demands & Risks: Medium-heavy work involving lifting, pushing, pulling, and ergonomic risks like repetition and forceful exertion. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials.

Work Environment: Exposure to blood and body fluids, emotionally demanding environment, and potential injury from equipment.

Reporting To: Vascular, ECHO & EKG Manager.
