Qualifications

Summary

Employs radiologic sciences technology to perform patient care, technical, and diagnostic tasks related to cardiovascular disease. Major tasks include ultrasound imaging, patient preparation and post-procedure care, procedure room set-up and cleaning, technical reporting, and quality monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-procedure and post-procedure patient care, including assessment and emergency cardiac care (CPR required). Assist with post-procedure transport as needed.
• Ensure equipment calibration and maintenance, perform quality assurance, troubleshoot issues, and report problems.
• Generate ultrasound images of the heart and vascular structures, perform advanced cardiac ultrasound studies, and handle multiple study types.
• Perform vascular studies and real-time readings in the operating room for invasive and non-invasive procedures.
• Conduct studies for neonatal/NICU and pediatric patients.
• Provide staff training and serve as a resource for Cardiovascular Sonographers.
• Monitor and record patient information, maintain report systems, and manage data retrieval and reporting.
• Prepare the procedure room and equipment efficiently for daily use and between procedures.
• Respond independently to on-call needs for emergent procedures.

Other Information

Education Requirements: Associate’s degree in Sonography, Radiology, or related field within 3 months of hire, or completion of a 12-month ultrasound program within 3 months.

Licensure/Certification Requirements: Registered by ARDMS, CCI, or eligible and registered within 1 year of hire. Maintain registry and continuing education annually.

Professional Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute hospital setting.
