Job summary

UnityPoint Health is actively recruiting a System Medical Director for Cardiovascular Surgery to lead the cardiovascular service line across the organization and its sites in Des Moines, IA. This executive role combines clinical leadership with program development, recruitment, and financial oversight.

The ideal candidate is a physician with board certification in cardiovascular surgery, demonstrated leadership, and experience guiding teams through change while maintaining high-quality patient

Qualifications

• MD or DO required and board-certified or board-eligible in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery.
• Fellowship training in the applicable subspecialty.
• Advanced healthcare management degree preferred (MBA/MHA).
• Ability to obtain and hold Iowa medical license.

Responsibilities

• 70% Clinical and Service Quality Performance with leadership of physicians and APPs.
• 10% Education & Training development and program standardization.
• 10% Clinical Program Development & Workforce Recruitment.
• 10% Financial Management and profitability planning of the service line.
