  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • One year of experience in an interventional cardiac cath lab.

SUMMARY

The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) assists with patient care in cardiac catheterization lab in accordance with hospital and department established procedures. Responsible for identifying patient needs, executing duties as per department protocols and provider orders, and evaluating the patients response to care. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation: Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • Initiates assessment based on the patients presenting problems or needs including collecting key information from patient, family, laboratory and other medical reports: determines priorities for care with special consideration given to patient teaching; documents assessment, clinical judgments and related information according to procedures.
  • Works closely with other care providers to complete the initial and ongoing assessments of patients and to provide clinical assistance as needed; reprioritizes care based on new information.
  • Performs therapeutic nursing interventions as ordered by the physician and consistent with standards of care and practice, nursing division policies and procedures, professional competencies, and with consideration given to risk management and infection control practices.
  • Assists with performance of cardiovascular procedures under instruction of a physician.
  • Administers medication according to procedure and/or direct orders of physician.
  • Schedules, coordinates and may perform may perform outpatient/inpatient testing procedures.
  • Performs therapeutic nursing interventions consistent with: Pre-op/post-procedure recoveryArterial and venous sheath managementDysrhythmia assessment and interventionPre-op/pre-procedure assessment and teachingIntraprocedure assessment and care.
  • Documents care based on standards of care and practice and/or clinical priorities including: Assessment and ongoing assessment findingsUpdated clinical prioritiesTherapeutic interventions with attention to patient educationPatients response to interventions and progress toward outcomes
  • Performs discharge planning and teaching; determines the impact of interventions on the patients condition and recognizes the patients progress towards meeting desired outcomes.
  • Initiates communication with peers and other members of the health care team about clinical priorities of care; reports on patient conditions as appropriate.
  • Initiates problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationship with peers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • Bachelors degree (B.S.N.), Associates degree (A.D.N.) or Diploma from an accredited college of nursing
COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • REQUIRED Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • One year of experience in an interventional cardiac cath lab
