Job summary

Memorial Health in Springfield, IL is seeking a Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist First Assist to scrub and provide first‑assist support for scheduled cardiothoracic surgeries in the CVOR. This role covers sterile technique and instrument management with four 10‑hour shifts and on‑call duties.

The ideal candidate will have a two‑year surgical technologist program, completion of a First Assist program, BLS CPR, and at least one year of CT surgical experience; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

• Two-year Surg Technologist program preferred.
• Completion of Surgical Technologist First Assist program.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as scrub technologist as prescribed by hospital policies and procedures.
• Sets up room for routine procedures within 5–15 minutes.
• Prepares for complicated cases in 30 minutes or less.
• Assists circulator in equipment checks and supply retrieval.
• Maintains aseptic technique and sterile field throughout procedures.
• Assists in end-of-case cleanup and instrument handling.
