Job Summary

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, Associate Manager, and the direction of the Cardiologist, coordinates the technical and patient care components of cardiac and peripheral angiograms, interventions, and other invasive procedures. They monitor patients during procedures, record hemodynamics, and assist physicians in performing angiographic, interventional, implant, and other cardiac procedures. They are responsible for all aspects of patient care according to hospital and department policies. The specialist must maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment and be available for emergency calls with a 30-minute response time.

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school with an Associate Degree in Radiology Science, Cardiovascular Technology, Nursing, or Emergency Medical Science with Paramedic Certification.
  • Registered by ARRT, RN, RECS, or RCIS; two years of Cath Lab/EP experience preferred.
  • Paramedics with an Associate in Applied Science in ENS and Paramedic Certification must register with RCIS/RCES within 18 months.
  • Maintain current certifications/licenses at all times.
  • Knowledge of growth and development principles; ability to assess patient data and provide age-specific care.
  • Maintain BLS certification; ACLS within 90 days of employment and current.
