Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for diseases with compromised cardiac muscle performance. The company is developing small molecule drug candidates engineered to impact myocardial muscle function and contractility.

Job Purpose:

As a Cardiovascular Account Specialist, you will introduce Cytokinetics and its first commercial product—a novel cardiac myosin inhibitor for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM)—within your territory. You will work with internal teams and external customers to develop business relationships with IDNs, hospitals, cardiology clinics, and specialty pharmacies, establishing yourself as a resource and demonstrating strategic thinking, passion, and a proactive approach aligned with our mission to address unmet patient needs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver sales results and manage the successful launch within your territory.
  2. Develop territory-specific account plans to identify and prioritize opportunities, coordinating efforts with local teams.
  3. Serve as a subject matter expert by providing clinically relevant disease and product information to create demand.
  4. Communicate resources such as marketing materials, payer info, and educational programs to healthcare providers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 5+ years biotech/pharma sales experience required.
  • Experience owning a territory independently is highly preferred.
  • Experience in cardiology, rare diseases, or with specialty products is preferred.
  • Experience with product launches, patient service hubs, and specialty pharmacy distribution is preferred.
  • Knowledge of KOLs and key accounts in the territory is preferred.
  • Strong strategic planning and market trend evaluation skills are required.
  • Ability to sell to complex accounts and meet patient needs is required.
  • Clinical acumen and customer advocacy passion are required.
  • Willingness to meet credentialing requirements and travel 25-75% as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
