Qualifikationen

• Graduate of a Surgical First Assisting program required.
• Registered and licensed with the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Surgical Assistant required.
• Certified Surgical First Assistant with NBSTSA or NCCSA required.
• AHA BLS CPR provider certification required.

Aufgaben

• Assists with procedural setup and patient preparedness for procedures.
• Assists the surgeon in closures and hemostatic techniques.
• Assists and/or independently performs sternal opening and closure.
• Acts as primary first assistant, providing wound exposure and tissue mobilization.
• Performs harvest and preparation of saphenous vein grafts and radial artery grafts.
• Inserts intravascular catheters and cannulation for circulatory support.
• Maintains aseptic technique and safe peri-operative environment.
• Participates in patient transport and room turnover.
• Serves as educator, mentor and resource to staff.
