Job summary

Jefferson Health in Allentown, PA is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU at Lehigh Valley Heart & Vascular Institute, one of the region's premier cardiovascular programs. You will care for high-acuity cardiac surgery patients alongside renowned surgeons and critical care specialists.

Responsibilities include post-operative management, ECMO/LVAD support, procedures, and family education, with a 13-hour shift pattern and rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• NCCPA Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• Pennsylvania licensure (or eligibility).
• Prior ICU experience or strong critical care clinical rotations preferred.
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Managing post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients.
• ECMO management.
• LVAD patient care.
• Bedside procedures.
• Initial patient evaluations, histories, and physical examinations.
• Placement of central venous catheters.
• Arterial line placement.
• Dialysis catheter insertion.
• Patient and family education.
• Participation in quality improvement, research, and clinical education initiatives.

Jefferson Health - Lehigh Valley is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU at Lehigh Valley Heart & Vascular Institute, one of the region's leading cardiovascular programs.

This is an outstanding opportunity to practice in a high-acuity, collaborative environment caring for complex cardiothoracic surgery patients while working alongside nationally recognized surgeons, intensivists, and advanced practice providers.

Position Highlights

• 13-hour shifts
• Rotating schedule: 2 weeks days / 2 weeks nights
• Two weekends per month
• Non-operative ICU position
• 11-bed Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU (Open Heart Unit)
• High-acuity cardiac and thoracic surgery patient population
• Collaborative multidisciplinary care team

Your Practice

Working alongside cardiothoracic surgeons and critical care specialists, you'll provide comprehensive inpatient management for patients recovering from complex cardiac and thoracic procedures.
