Qualifications

• CA PA License required.
• National Board Certification required.
• Graduated from an accredited PA program.
• Minimum 2 years' experience preferred, including assisting in CT surgeries, EVH and endo radial artery harvesting -preferred.
• Knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology.
• Skill in physical assessment and nursing care of cardiac surgery patients.
• Skill in teaching.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to read and interpret physician orders, policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of UCLA policies and procedures.
• Ability to work varying shifts.
• Senior PA: minimum 5 years relevant PA exp.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Physician Assistant for the Cardiothoracic Surgical Service under supervision.
• Assist in the operating room and coordinate care of cardiothoracic patients.
• Provide patient/family education and discharge planning.
• Lead rotational mentoring program and participate in clinical trials.
• Contribute to research, teaching and publishing; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
