About this Role

As a Cardiothoracic Surgeon (CT), you will be employed by Intermountain Medical Group and join the CT Surgery team at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. The CT surgery practice has been well established for more than 40 years. This opportunity offers a generous competitive base salary with quality incentives, as well as productivity and call pay incentives, a sign‑on bonus and relocation assistance. The practice is supported by a top‑tier heart and vascular program serving patients throughout Northern Utah, backed by strong cardiology and vascular surgery service line partnership and the resources of an integrated health system.

Clinical Practice

You will work alongside a collegial team of 3 board‑certified CT surgeons and 4 very experienced CT surgical Advance Practice Providers (NPs and PAs). You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the cardiology group that includes over 15 cardiologists, including interventional and structural cardiologists, electrophysiology specialists, advanced cardiac imagers, and dedicated heart‑failure physicians. The practice provides full‑spectrum care that prides itself on high‑quality patient experiences.

Position Highlights
  • Excellent opportunity for professional growth, with great team dynamics and program support.
  • Diverse case mix: CABG, aortic surgery, atrial fibrillation treatment, valve repair/replacement, benign thoracic and thoracic oncology, robotic surgery, and structural interventions including TAVR, MTEER, and TTEER.
  • No VAD or transplant on site; VAD/Transplant support at the integrated quaternary center in Salt Lake.
  • ECMO support at the integrated quaternary center.
  • Surgical APPs provide support in the OR, hospital (first call for floor and ICU patients), and ambulatory clinic.
  • The clinic is conveniently located in the hospital, providing easy access.
  • EPIC EMR utilization system‑wide.
  • ICU support with an excellent group of intensivists available 24/7.
  • The medical group is physician‑led with administrative support from a larger hospital system.
  • The hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center and a Certified Stroke Center. The operating rooms include two Da Vinci Xi robots, a hybrid room, and two dedicated cardiothoracic surgery ORs.
  • Academic‑level care in a community setting: McKay‑Dee offers university‑level complexity with the warmth and accessibility of a regional medical center.

Compensation

Base salary is $900,000+ for experienced surgeons, informed by national surveys and databases. Additional incentives include a $75,000 annual quality incentive, a call‑pay bonus for excessive call (>7 days), wRVU‑based productivity incentives, a $50,000 sign‑on bonus, relocation assistance, and annual mandatory CME reimbursement.

What you’ll bring
  • MD or DO degree from a fully accredited allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Full prescriptive authority and an active DEA number, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process.
