Job Description

The Department of Surgery and the Heart and Vascular Center at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville (UF COM‑J) seeks a Cardiothoracic Surgeon. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment at the tenure or non‑tenure accruing level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor based on experience and background. This full‑time (1.0 FTE) clinical faculty position involves advanced/complex adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, patient care, teaching, and research at a level commensurate with an academic appointment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced cardiac and thoracic procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve surgery (open and minimally invasive), arrhythmia surgery, thoracic aortic surgery (TEVAR), thoracoscopic and robotic lung resection, and mediastinal surgery.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient patient care and participate in the on‑call schedule.
  • Engage in teaching activities, including instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows, and contribute to curriculum development.
  • Conduct research and scholarly activities appropriate for an academic faculty member.
  • Collaborate with other faculty in the UF College of Medicine and the UF Health Heart and Vascular Center across multiple practice locations.
Qualifications
  • Required: MD/DO or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Eligible for or currently hold an active Florida Medical License.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post‑residency/fellowship experience.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
  • Proficiency in the following procedures: CABG, aortic surgery (including TEVAR), complex valvular surgery (including minimally invasive techniques), Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation, TAVR, robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and ECMO/LVAD placement.
  • Experience in an academic setting with a record of education, scholarly productivity, and program development.
