Job summary

Duke University Health System – Duke University Hospital is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse (RN) to join the 6100 Cardiothoracic Stepdown Unit (CTSU) in Durham, NC. This full-time role involves delivering expert nursing care, supporting complex patient populations, and upholding a collaborative, patient-centered culture.

New grads are encouraged to apply; RN licensure in NC or compact license required within 60 days.

Qualifications

• New grads encouraged to apply; no prior nursing experience required.
• All Clinical Nurse I hires must complete the DUHS Nurse Residency Program within 12 months.
• RN licensure in NC or compact license required within 60 days of start.
• BSN/ADN or Nursing Diploma from an accredited program; BSN holders encouraged to pursue BSN if not yet.
• BLS certification required; professional nursing specialty certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide and supervise both direct and indirect nursing care using the nursing process.
• Deliver advanced and specialized care aligned with the DUHS Professional Practice Model.
• Serve as a resource and role model to other staff.
• Participate in departmental committees, professional development, and quality improvement activities.
• Promote a patient-centered environment prioritizing safety, respect, and exceptional service.
• Deliver care in accordance with NC Board of Nursing scope and regulatory requirements.
