Job summary

JR Enterprise, LLC, in partnership with the Salem VA Medical Center, seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologists to provide anesthesia services to Veterans at the Salem VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia.

This is a 3 FTE, long-term contract opportunity offering comprehensive anesthesia across cardiac, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, neurosurgical procedures within an academic VA environment.

Qualifications

• Board-certified or board-eligible in anesthesiology (ABA).
• Minimum 2 years of anesthesiology experience.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive anesthesia and perioperative services for Veterans.
• Cover cardiac, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic and neurosurgical cases.
• Support SICU and pain management services.
• Preoperative assessment and anesthesia planning; monitor patients throughout perioperative period.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, CRNAs, residents, and other staff.

Compensation & Contract

• Compensation: $390–$450/hour
• Call Compensation: $53.95/hour
• Position: 3 FTE
• Contract Term: 1 year with four additional 1-year options to extend

Position Overview

JR Enterprise (JRE), in partnership with the Salem VA Medical Center, is seeking Board Certified/Board Eligible Anesthesiologists to provide comprehensive anesthesia and perioperative services to Veterans at the Salem VA Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. This is a 3 FTE, long-term contract opportunity offering physicians the opportunity to provide high-quality care to Veterans in a comprehensive, collaborative, and academically oriented VA healthcare environment. The Anesthesiologist will provide anesthesia services across a broad range of surgical and procedural specialties, including cardiac, orthopedic, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, ENT, urologic, ophthalmologic, and plastic surgery. Physicians will also provide anesthesia and clinical support for electroconvulsive therapy, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological procedures, as well as surgical intensive care, pain management, emergency airway management, and diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• Regular Schedule: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Call coverage is required
• Weekday call coverage required
• Weekend call coverage required
• Holiday call coverage required

Call responsibilities are approximately:

• 2,860 weekday call hours annually per provider
• 2,496 weekend call hours annually per provider
• 264 holiday call hours annually per provider

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA)
• Minimum 2 years of anesthesiology experience
• Current, full, and unrestricted medical license
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Ability to meet all applicable VA credentialing and privileging requirements
• Ability to provide comprehensive anesthesia services in a complex clinical environment

License Requirements

Any active U.S. state medical license is acceptable

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive anesthesia and perioperative services to Veteran patients.
• Provide anesthesia care for cardiac surgery and major vascular procedures.
• Provide anesthesia services for orthopedic joint replacement procedures.
• Support thoracic and neurosurgical procedures.
• Provide anesthesia services for ENT, urologic, ophthalmologic, and plastic surgery.
• Provide clinical care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy.
• Provide anesthesia services for procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
• Support electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological procedures.
• Provide primary coverage for the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU).
• Provide clinical support for the Short Stay Unit.
• Provide acute and chronic pain management services.
• Provide diagnostic transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) for medical and surgical patients, as applicable.
• Provide emergency airway management services.
• Evaluate patients preoperatively and develop appropriate anesthesia plans.
• Monitor patients throughout anesthesia and the perioperative period.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in accordance with VA policies.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, CRNAs, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
• Meet all clinical, quality, safety, and performance standards established by the VA.
