Base pay range: $140,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr

Overview

Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., is headquartered in Carlsbad, California, with offices in Boston, Massachusetts, and Dublin, Ireland. Ionis is a leader in RNA-targeted therapy with a focus on genetic medicines to address unmet medical needs. The Cardiometabolic Account Specialist (CAS) is a field-based role responsible for the launch of Ionis’s first wholly owned commercial product within the assigned territory, and will work with cross-functional partners and external customers to support Ionis goals and patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the objectives and needs of each customer and develop and execute effective business plans to meet customer and Ionis goals by building and leveraging local networks in the healthcare system.
  • Serve as a cross-functional teammate, collaborating with a diverse team to engage with patients and healthcare professionals in a compliant manner.
  • Engage with customers to educate on Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS), disease state awareness, diagnostic pathways, and treatment options.
  • Participate in conferences and scientific meetings to educate healthcare professionals about FCS and Ionis therapies.
  • Gather market insights, profile accounts, and inform product sales and marketing strategy; understand local referral networks and identify key HCPs treating FCS.
  • Develop and execute territory strategic account plans to maximize opportunities and customer satisfaction, engaging endocrinologists, cardiologists, and other relevant specialists.
  • Participate in field training to understand brand messaging, disease state, and customer engagement tactics; maintain compliance with policies and the Ionis Code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teammates to address customer needs, share learnings, and ensure a high-quality customer and patient experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales with experience in new product launches and account-based selling
  • Experience engaging healthcare professionals (HCPs) and IDNs; cross-functional field team coordination
  • Prior experience independently managing a sales territory
  • Background in cardiology, endocrinology, or related sub-specialties; familiarity with Familial Chylomicronemia Syndrome (FCS) community
  • Established relationships with key opinion leaders and major accounts; ability to analyze market data and develop territory strategies
  • Strong clinical knowledge and a patient-focused approach
