The Gainesville, FL Veterans Affairs Medical Center (GVAMC) (Malcolm Randall) and the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Florida (UF) are seeking a full-time BC/BE Cardiologist with an emphasis on heart failure. This faculty position involves a dual appointment, primarily based at the VA.
The GVAMC is a major hospital within one of the largest VA systems in the country, with fourteen VA-based cardiologists providing comprehensive cardiovascular care, including CT surgery, interventional and structural programs, electrophysiology, advanced imaging, and heart failure cardiology. We rank among the top five in the VA system for interventional and electrophysiology procedures, with approximately 1,000 admissions annually for heart failure.
This role will focus on expanding our existing heart failure program in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The team currently includes one heart failure cardiologist and six advanced practice providers, working closely with pharmacists and social workers. Responsibilities include supervising and teaching cardiology fellows, internal medicine residents, and advanced practice providers as part of the inpatient consultative heart failure service. Outpatient duties involve managing a large chronic heart failure outpatient population, evaluating new consults, and providing follow-up care. We also have a telehealth program providing remote care via video visits for patients in distant locations.
Applicants with subspecialty training or experience in heart failure are preferred, though board certification in advanced heart failure and transplantation is not mandatory. Opportunities include participating in research, interpreting nuclear studies, echocardiograms, and performing diagnostic catheterizations, depending on interest and qualifications.
