Job summary

BAS HealthCare is seeking a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner for a locums‑to‑perm position in Fort Wayne, IN, starting August 11, 2025. The role features a 7-on/7-off schedule with weekend and on‑call coverage.

The APP will perform inpatient rounds, medical management, and assist in cardiac surgeries. EVH experience and cardiothoracic expertise are required. Paid travel and lodging provided.

Qualifications

• Cardiothoracic experience required.
• PAs must have EVH case experience or 10+ years of practice.

Responsibilities

• Rounding on inpatients (ICU, stepdown) and managing medical care.
• Daily inpatient rounding and rounding on weekends.
• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) and training new APPs on EVH.
• First assist on surgical cases after learning surgeon preferences.
• Weekday coverage 6:30am–4:30pm with on-call.
• Weekend inpatient rounding with call responsibilities.
• Take ICU call 1–2 nights weekly (5:00pm–7:00am).
• Weekend call Saturday 7:00am to Monday 6:30am.
• Support for cardiac, thoracic, vascular surgeries and heart failure treatments.
• Manage approximately 8–10 inpatient encounters per shift.

Requirements

• Cardiothoracic experience is required; PAs must have at least 500 endoscopic vein harvesting cases or 10 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Primarily focused on rounding and medical management, especially on weekends.
• Daily rounding on all inpatients (ICU, stepdown), new consults, and discharging patients.
• Endoscopic vein harvesting and training new APPs on EVH procedures.
• First assist on surgical cases after learning surgeon preferences.
• Weekday coverage from 6:30am‑4:30pm with on‑call responsibilities.
• Weekend rounding on inpatients with call coverage.
• Take ICU call 1‑2 nights per week (5:00pm‑7:00am).
• Weekend call from Saturday 7:00am through Monday 6:30am.
• Support for various specialties including cardiac surgeries, thoracic procedures, vascular surgeries, and heart failure treatments.
• Manage approximately 8‑10 inpatient encounters per shift.

Compensation
