The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified, board-eligible full-time permanent hospital employed Cardiologist to join our Cardiology department. The Cardiology Physician is accountable to the Chief of Cardiology Service. The Cardiologist participates in inpatient and outpatient care related to cardiovascular diseases at the OKC VA, including outpatient diagnostic testing and non-invasive procedures. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to calls, resident/fellow education and training, and preceptorship to APRNs and PAs. Candidates should have experience and training in advanced heart failure management, novel pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments, and apply VA and national guidelines for patient care.

  • Attend staff meetings, communicate within the chain of command, and prepare briefs related to adverse patient outcomes.
  • Manage clinical care, including open encounters, consults, CPRS documentation, and clinic management, while contributing to quality and safety initiatives.
  • Provide compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient care focused on health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, and end-of-life care.
  • Demonstrate current biomedical, clinical, and social sciences knowledge and apply it to patient care and education.
  • Use scientific evidence to evaluate and improve patient care practices.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships through excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exhibit professionalism through ongoing development, ethical practice, and sensitivity to diversity.
  • Understand healthcare systems and apply this knowledge to improve healthcare delivery.
  • If involved in research, demonstrate the ability to identify research problems, plan and execute studies, and publish results.

The OCVAMC in Oklahoma City serves over 70,000 veterans across 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 in North Texas. The department is expanding to better serve veteran patients.

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 08:00-4:30

Qualifications include a full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S., board certification or eligibility in Cardiology, with Internal Medicine certification preferred. The starting salary is $350,000 annually, with incentives, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits including retirement, insurance, paid time off, and more.
