Practice Opportunity: Cardiology for UPMC Somerset

Somerset Cardiology has been providing exemplary cardiac care for over 30 years. The department employs three full-time cardiologists—two non-invasive and one interventional—and two physician assistants, with a third full-time position in progress due to increased volume. An electrophysiologist also sees patients weekly and performs procedures at UPMC Somerset. The practice runs a pacemaker clinic weekly.

The practice is located across from UPMC Somerset, facilitating easy transition between inpatient and outpatient care. Non-invasive cardiologists rotate weekly between inpatient and outpatient services, supported by physician assistants. Hospital services include rounding, TEE procedures, stress tests, echoes, and EKGs. Medical call duties are shared among cardiologists and supplemented by locums for weekends, with physician assistants providing some weekend rounding.

The interventional cardiologist has been with the practice since 2016, and both medical cardiologists since 2019. The physician assistants have been with the practice for several years, working under the cardiology team. The outpatient EMR system is Epic, with a future transition from Paragon Allscripts planned.

Additional specialty services at UPMC include Pulmonary Medicine, Pain Management, Orthopedic Surgery, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Neurology, ENT, Urology, Gynecology, UroGyn, and tele-medicine services for Rheumatology, Endocrinology, and Neurosurgery. Other services include medical oncology, a sleep lab, cardiac catheterization labs, physical and occupational therapy, home health, and more.
