Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, seeks a certified Medical Assistant to join the Timonium clinic team. Under physician supervision, the MA supports patient care and collaborates with the health team to ensure efficient operations in a busy outpatient setting.

Responsibilities include vital signs, medication review, injections, specimen handling, and strict adherence to infection control and HIPAA rules.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Medical Assistant certification/registration must be obtained within 90 days if not currently certified.
• Current CPR certification required and maintained during employment.
• Additional education may substitute for experience per policy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care under physician supervision and with the healthcare team.
• Report to clinic manager and follow Johns Hopkins policies and procedures.
• Maintain inventory and monitor expiration dates of supplies.
• Follow infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
• Record vital signs in Epic and monitor patient status.
• Review medications, document in Epic, and process refills.
• Perform injections and vaccination administration as directed.
• Handle specimen labeling, transport, and basic waived testing QC.
• Process HIPAA-compliant medical records requests.
