US Heart and Vascular is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join Houston Cardiovascular Associates in Sugar Land, TX. The role involves interviewing patients, recording vitals, chart preparation, and coordinating imaging orders.

The candidate will manage EMR entries, support EKGs and labs, and assist with scheduling and follow-up tasks. A Medical Assistant program completion and EKG experience are required, with potential travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program.
• Experience in administration of EKGs is required.
• Cardiac experience is preferred.
• High School diploma or Texas accredited GED.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain medical history and current concerns.
• Measures vital signs and records in charts.
• Preps patient charts for next day clinic.
• Reviews testing appointments and ensures imaging orders with ICD codes.
• Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR; updates as needed.
• Accesses hospital EMRs as needed.
• Provides H&P and labs to ASC team 2 days prior to case.
• Flags cases with ASC using surgery patient sheet.
• Runs missed appointment queries to reschedule patients weekly.
• Responsible for EKG; entering orders with correct physician and diagnosis.
• Operates EKG, treadmill, and other equipment for routine tests.
• Handles prescription refills via phone calls and portal messages.
• Returns patient calls within 2 hours and documents follow-up actions.
• Schedules follow-up visits during clinic appointments.
• Reviews testing instructions with patients at checkout.
• May handle insurance precertification and prior authorization.
