Job summary

Stormont Vail Health in Manhattan, KS seeks a Medical Assistant to support cardiology offices and patient care teams. You will greet patients, collect vitals and history, document in EMR, and assist with orders under supervision.

Responsibilities include cleaning exam rooms, processing charges, monitoring EKG equipment, Holter scheduling, and inventorying supplies. Requires completion of an accredited program and applicable certifications; on-site day shift.

Qualifications

• Successfully completed first semester in an accredited nursing program.
• Successfully completed a medical assistant or patient care technician program.
• A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Patient Care Technician certification may be substituted for the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, verifies identity and prepares for physician visit demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
• Accurately collects data such as weight, height, vital signs, patient history and medications and documents data in EMR.
• Reports normal test results and confers with physician or nurse when needed and documents in EMR.
• Carries out orders, clarifies questionable orders with physician or nurse and properly documents in EMR.
• Cleans and prepares exam room for the next patient.
• Medication refills under the direction of the physician or APP with nursing supervision.
• Completes patient charges in an accurate and timely manner.
• Monitors equipment performance such as EKG machine and notifies manager of any malfunctions.
• Holter, MCOT, ECAT and Event monitor scheduling, monitoring of equipment, processing and billing.
• Inventories and orders supplies.
