Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Cardiology department. This full-time position (40 hours/week) runs Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm, with a sign-on bonus eligibility based on qualifications.

The role includes rooming patients, vital signs, lab duties, medications, vaccines, scheduling, and patient communication. Required include a high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training; current AHA BLS

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military clinical training.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required within 45 days where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, history, and health maintenance.
• Perform lab duties: venipuncture, specimen handling, and POCT under standing orders.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed with patient safety in mind.
• Schedule appointments and manage referrals, insurance authorizations, and communications.
• Maintain clean, stocked work areas and ensure equipment is in good working order.
