Shift

Full‑Time, 4 10‑hour shifts; 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Call

Rotating Call requirement.

Position Summary

This position, under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures on patients. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal care to patient population.

Core Functions
  • Assists in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures to treat heart disease under the direction of a qualified physician. Performs and reviews a baseline patient evaluation as defined by scope of practice and facility, and evaluates patients’ response to diagnosis, interventional maneuvers, and medications during procedures.
  • Operates all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures efficiently. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance in the area of operation. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors, and adheres to all safety policies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and techniques, including normal and abnormal ECG rhythms and lead changes, hemodynamic values, normal and abnormal pressures, and ST elevation/depression. Monitors and records ECG and pressure waves during the procedures, and provides other aspects of patient care as needed.
  • Adheres to aseptic and sterile techniques and universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into the case cart for processing. Prepares instruments for cleaning after each case.
  • Accountable for ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the scope of practice, including maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
  • Works under the direction of a physician. Internal customers: physicians, nursing management and staff, medical staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary health‑care team. External customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients, and family members.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED or equivalent. Completion of a Cardiovascular Invasive program or equivalent experience. BLS required; ACLS may be required depending on assignment. Must successfully pass Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) exams. May require national certification, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and licensure by state regulatory agency if applicable. Extensive clinical knowledge typically achieved with 2+ years of experience in a cardiac cath lab or meeting certification board requirements. Ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
