Responsible for diagnosing, testing, and treating disorders of the circulatory or cardiovascular system. Performs tests, diagnoses patients, provides treatment plans and options, and collaborates with patients’ physicians and surgeons to treat cardiovascular issues. Functions in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Provides supervision to patients undergoing cardiac evaluation as per guidelines and in accordance with licensure, credentialing, and privileging as a member of the medical staff of SSMC.
  2. Ensures all services adhere to credentialing and privileging policy of SSMC.
  3. Engages with patients and their families to explain diagnoses, care plans, possible outcomes, and relevant information.
  4. Adheres to documentation standards and policies.
  5. Maintains the integrity of clinical care standards.
  6. Monitors, evaluates, and acts to improve the quality of medical care.
  7. Participates in initiatives that promote sharing of best practices, data feedback, and collaborative improvements.
  8. Stays updated on developments in cardiology through continuing medical education.
  9. Provides input on patient care by other disciplines outside the department, ensuring standards are met.
  10. Demonstrates respect and professionalism towards patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
  11. Maintains certification in the cardiology specialty.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum Education: Medical Doctor Degree; residency program.
  • Minimum Work Experience: Meets requirements of South Shore Health medical staff bylaws; credentialed by SSH medical staff.
  • License/Certifications: MD or DO, licensed in Massachusetts, with successful completion of residency, certified by the appropriate Board, and ACLS certification.
  • Per diem/call coverage.
