Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant / Associate Job with UCHealth in Colorado Springs, CO

Join to apply for the Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant / Associate role at UCHealth in Colorado Springs, CO.

The physician assistant (PA) or nurse practitioner (NP) is a licensed provider responsible for the assessment and management of surgical patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, care planning, and ongoing evaluation. The PA/NP will operate in accordance with all relevant regulations, institutional policies, and scope of practice guidelines.

Qualifications
  • PREFERRED: 3-5 years of Cardiothoracic surgical experience
  • REQUIRED: OR experience with endoscopic vein harvesting using the Maquet-Getinge system and first assisting
Compensation

The pay range is $125,000-$150,000, dependent on experience.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday with rotating OR coverage
  • Rounding and evaluation of CVICU, floor, and clinic patients
  • 2 full clinic days; other days for patient care as needed
  • 1:4-5 weekday and weekend call; in-house NP manages overnight call

  • Work effectively in high-stress, dynamic environments
  • Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient with EMR (EPIC)
  • Provide direct patient care, including examinations, diagnostics, care plans, and procedures
  • Assist in OR and perform endovascular vein harvesting
  • Maintain professional judgment and adhere to continuing education requirements
Minimum Requirements for Physician Assistants
  • Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Unrestricted PA license and NCCPA certification
  • DEA permit, Medicare/Medicaid provider status, and no sanctions
  • ACLS certification
Minimum Requirements for Nurse Practitioners
  • Master’s in Nursing, national certification, and unrestricted license
  • Prescriptive authority, DEA permit, and provider status
  • ACLS certification
