Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our Cardiac and Vascular operating rooms. You will provide instrument and supply support, assist the surgeon during procedures, and ensure sterile technique and patient safety in a high-volume environment.

This position requires completion of a surgical technologist program, NBSTSA certification (or within one year), CPR/BLS validation, and excellent teamwork.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technologist program.
• Must be certified through the NBSTSA or obtain certification within one year of employment.
• CPR and BLS validation maintained.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures and surgical equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
• Strict adherence to sterile field policies.
• Knowledge of basic patient safety concepts.
• Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
• Primary CST in cardiac/vascular ORs in a high volume setting.
• Open heart OR work with ~30 cases per week.

Responsibilities

• Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures; assist the surgeon as allowed.
• Ensure proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the OR; assist with cleaning and routing after operations.
• Work with the OR team and report to the Manager.
